About Streetread

Born out of the daily frustrations of trying to stay up to date with all of the important news headlines that surround Wall Street and the rest of the financial world, Streetread offers not only the most comprehensive, but easiest to use interface for gathering the day's financial news and data. Traditionally, the only method of doing so, would be to manually visit each of the numerous leading financial news websites to painstakingly sift out the day's important events. Then, of course, you need to find the headlines pertaining to each of the stocks you either own or follow. By the time this process comes to an end, you're already behind in the current news. Streetread seeks to completely eliminate this daily procedure with a single-page interface that automatically gathers all of the financial headlines and data the web has to offer - and all without ever having to reload the page. After creating a free account, and loading the stock symbols you're interested in, viewing the latest headlines for a symbol or financial website is just a single click away. Ownership and Development

Straight off the success of Tweako, a social network and information-sharing platform geared towards computing and technology, which was acquired by an undisclosed media company only three months after launching, Streetread was single-handedly developed, designed, and launched by Mike Stefanello. Production began in early February and concluded in mid June, taking that long only because of several major feature and design changes. Streetread is proud to be powered by, and would like to thank everyone behind the following projects:

  • Drupal: An open source content management platform.
  • jQuery: A fast, concise, JavaScript Library.
  • PHP: A widely-used general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development.
  • Apache: An open-source HTTP server for modern operating systems
  • MySQL: The world's most popular open-source database.
  • CentOS: An Enterprise-class Linux Distribution.
